The New Parker 51, or Parker 51 Reimagined was launched in 2021 as a modern take on its iconic namesake.
The most noticeable differences are a screw cap, redesigned palladium plated clip, and a cartridge /converter filling system. Its shape and dimensions are almost identical to the original so it is easily recognisable as a Parker 51.
I bought this pen new, along with a red one, in order to be able to write a review and to get the feel of the pen. It has only been inked once or twice and is in immaculate condition.
The pen is fitted with a Parker De Luxe screw action ink converter and is supplied with an ink cartridge so it is ready to write in either configuration. The ink flow is consistent, as expected from the hooded feed arrangement, and the stainless steel nib writes with a super smooth fine to medium line. It is a very 'easy' writer.
Whether or not the pen can be called a 'real' Parker 51 is debatable but, it is certainly a very good modern pen in its own right. It is certainly streets ahead of any other 51 clones, past or present, and it is made by Parker. As a convenient and attractive daily writer it would be difficult to beat.
