The Onoto K4 was produced at the Onoto factory in Strathendry, Scotland in the early 1950s.
This set, comprising a fountain pen and pencil, is genuine new old stock, it is unused and never inked. As with many new old stock pens, it came to me unboxed as the pens were not usually matched with the box until the point of sale. i have provided a new, high quality box for transportation, protection, and display.
The set has a showroom finish with a little tarnish on the cone of the pencil which could probably be easily removed but I thought it best to leave that to the new owner. The 'chalk marks' were put on the set as an aid to the retailer who would have wiped them off, if and when the pen was sold. The marks are very fragile and would erode rapidly as the set was handled, these are totally intact.
The pen is a piston filler with a hooded nib arrangement which protects the 14Ct. gold nib and keeps it moist. The design also includes an ink collector which provides a smooth ink flow. The K4 is renowned as an excellent writer.
