Onoto pens, made by Thomas De La Rue, are best known for their plunger filler pens but they also made some lever fillers such as this pen, probably dating from the 1930s.
The barrel, clearly stamped 'Onoto the Pen' No. 14 Made in England', has a deep lustrous finish in a vibrant marbled green colour.
The cap, a screw fit, carries a ball ended 'sunburst' clip secured by a hard rubber cap stud, these features suggwst that it is an early model.
The 14 Ct. Gold nib, an Onoto number 22, is straight and well aligned. It writes with a medium line and has a small, but pleasing, amount of flex.
Onoto lever filling pens are not easy to find and a no.14 in this condition is quite a rarity.
