The Parker 105 Flighter was introduced in 1980 and was discontinued in 1982, a very short production run for Parker but good news for collectors. This pen carries a date code for the first quarter of 1981.
The Parker 105, available in the Flighter brushed steel and rolled gold finishes, was very different from earlier Parkers, perhaps too different as it did not sell well at the time. It is a very 'square' pen with uncluttered, clean lines and a redesigned, spring loaded 'arrow' clip. The three 'tabs' set into the steel section are also spring loaded. The pen is very well engineered and has clearly been designed 'from scratch' rather than modified from earlier pens.
The pen is in superb condition showing no usage marks, although it has been inked for testing purposes. The Octanium nib writes with a super smooth medium line.
The Parker 105 Flighter is a high quality pen with a little 'quirkiness'. it is a rare and highly collectable pen, much harder to find than the rolled gold version.
