The Parker '17' Lady was introduced into the Parker Duofold line in 1964 and replaced with the Parker Lady Standard in 1968, a relatively short production run.
This is a fine example of a Parker '17' Lady fountain pen. It is finished in Red with Gold filled 'Arrow' clip and cap band.
As the pen was in such good condition externally I decided to do a full restoration on the pen to ensure everything was as it should be. The photographs show an 'exploded' view and some of the details of the internals. The nib is solid 14 Ct. Gold, not plated, it is clearly stamped '14K'. There are two holes in the feed, one to take ink from the reservoir and another to deliver it to the paper, a very efficient system.
The 'aerometric', 'squeeze' bar filling system works well and the pen writes with a smooth, medium line, perhaps a little on the fine side.
Although the Parker Lady is not a particularly rare vintage pen, mainly due to its success in the global market, it is nevertheless not easy to find one in such pristine condition. It is a very much underrated Gold nibbed vintage pen.
