Parker 17 Super Duofold in Blue. Immaculate New Old stock.

Regular price

The Parker 17 Super Duofold, hooded nib version, this pen, was added to the Duofold line in 1964 and ceased production in 1972.

The '17 Super' is actually very different from the standard '17', perhaps Parker should have just named it a 'Duofold Super'.  It's not only that the extra wide Gold filled cap band and barrel end tassie have been added;  the cowled clip with inset 'jewel is 'pure' Duofold.  The filler, nib, and hood sections are, however, identical and no different from the other hooded Duofolds.  The 17 Super and  'standard' Parker 17, are really very different pens that were made alongside each other throughout production.

Finished in blue with gold filled trim, this is a remarkable example of the 17 Super model.  The pen is in totally immaculate, uninked condition and is presented in it's original box with guarantee and instructions.

I've photographed the pen from every angle to demonstrate that the pen is, indeed, immaculate.  The factory applied 'chalk marks' are still fully intact, these were an aid to the retailer and were meant to be wiped off as the pen was sold.  They are fragile and quickly erode as a pen is handled.  If a chalk marked pen is intended to be used, rather than placed in a collection, I recommend that they are photographed before being rmoved, thia only takes seconds with a clean cloth.

The 'Pli-Glass' ink sac was devised by Parker to enable the user to see how much ink was left in the pen.  They frequently become ink stained and often darken with age but this one is crystal clear.

This Parker 17 Super Duofold is an extremely attractive and practical Gold nibbed vintage fountain pen in pristine condition.  It is clearly of collectable quality but would also make a first class daily writer.
