The Parker 17 Super Duofold, hooded nib version, this pen, was added to the Duofold line in 1964 and ceased production in 1972.
The '17 Super' is actually very different from the standard '17', perhaps Parker should have just named it a 'Duofold Super'. It's not only that the extra wide Gold filled cap band and barrel end tassie have been added; the cowled clip with inset 'jewel is 'pure' Duofold. The filler, nib, and hood sections are, however, identical and no different from the other hooded Duofolds. The 17 Super and 'standard' Parker 17, were made alongside each other throughout production.
Finished in Green, by far the most uncommon colour, this is a fine example of the 17 Super model. The pen is in excellent condition throughout, it has a very deep shine, a crisp barrel imprint, and bright Gold filling.
The aerometric type filling system is simple and easy to use and the 14 Ct. Gold nib writes well, delivering a smooth, medium line with just a suggestion of width variation between the vertical and horizontal strokes. It is a very comfortable and 'easy' writer.
This Parker 17 Super Duofold is an extremely attractive and practical Gold nibbed vintage fountain pen in the least common colour. It would make a first class, eye-catching every day writer.
