Parker 51 Classic. 1965-1968.

Regular price £110.00

This Parker 51 Classic was made between 1965 and 1968, the last of the Mk.II models, featuring a rounded barrel end.  In 1965 the filler sleeve was changed to a one piece construction and a '51' was imprinted on the cap.  At the end of 1968 the Mk.III pen with a squared off barrel end replaced the Mk.II.  This is a Mk. II pen with a one piece filler sleeve and a '51' imprint.

The pen is constructed in black Lucite with a 'Lustralloy' cap carrying a chrome plated 'arrow' clip and pearl coloured cap stud.  It is in excellent condition throughout and has been fully serviced.

The pen body has a showroom finish and the cap is ding free with a good surface.  The colour combination and smooth lines give the pen a classically distinguished appearance.

The 'aerometric' filler system is simple , easy to use, and very effective.  The original 'pli-glass' ink sac has retained some opacity so the ink level can be monitored as the pen is used.

The 14Ct. Gold nib, performs very well, it gives a super smooth medium line, perhaps a little on the broad side.  The Parker '51' ink collector system serves as a second reservoir and provides excellent ink flow.  The pen may suit someone with a large, bold 'hand', it encourages writing with a flourish.

The Parker 51 was in production for over thirty years and is recognised as a good candidate for 'the best pen ever made', it is certainly the most successful.  It is an ultra reliable pen with an impeccable pedigree and a great deal of prestige.
