This Parker 51 Classic Aerometric pen was first made, in England, in 1948. This pen, beautifully finished in Black with a Lustralloy cap, chrome clip, and pearl cap stud, carries a date code for the third quarter of 1956.
The surface has a deep shine with no marks. The cap is totally ding free, and, unusually, the frosted finish has held up very well. The chromed 'arrow' clip is pristine and is secred with a pearl grey cap stud.
The 14 Ct. Gold nib has a medium point. It is an excellent writer, producing a firm, medium line, perhaps a little towards broad. It is a very 'easy' writer, with a smooth, soft feel.
The Parker 51 'mock-crock' box is scuffed on one end but is clean and sound, as is the instruction leaflet. It is the correct, original box for the pen, in itself something of a collector's item.
The Parker 51 is regarded as amongst the best pens ever made and this example certainly lives up to that claim. As a high quality, reliable and distinguished every day writer with a great deal of prestige the 51 is very hard to beat.
