The Parker 51 Custom differs from the 'Classic' model in that it has a 12Ct. rolled Gold cap, the Classic cap is 'Lustralloy', a stainless steel alloy with a frosted finish.
The black 'Lucite' body has a first class finish and the rolled Gold cap is ding free. A just legible date imprint on the barrel identifies the pen as being made in the second quarter of 1954.
The pen has been fully serviced and tested. The aerometric filling system works well and the 14 Ct. Gold nib writes with a super smooth line, a little on the broad side of medium. The 51 nibs were hand made so there is a little variation in the characterisrtics of individual nibs, this one is a gem.
The Parker box is from a couple of decades later than the pen bu tit is in excellent condition and will serve well for protection and transport.
At almost seventy years old this is a remarkable top quality vintage pen. The 51 is the first choice of many collectors as a daily user, it is totally reliable, stylish and very practical with a great deal of prestige.
