Parker 51 Forest Green boxed set, mint.

Parker 51 Forest Green boxed set.

Parker introduced the aerometric filling system on the 51 in 1948, this superb example is dated for 1949, a very early English Aerometric set.  I can't find a Forest Green Parker 51 set for sale anywhere that even comes close to this one.

The 51 is often described as 'the best pen ever made', it was often copied but never equalled.  This set certainly supports that claim.  It comprises a fountain pen, pencil, and original, box and instructions.

The Forest Green colour is most attractive and is one of the most uncommon parker 51 colours, it is extremely hard to find.  The 'Lustralloy' caps are free of blemishes and still retain a fully frosted finish.  This finish does wear quite quickly with normal use so it is very rare to find a Parker 51 with caps in new condition, as they are on this set.
The fountain pen 'Pli-Glass' ink sac is still unstained and the surfaces have their original lustrous shine and are free of marks, they have not been waxed or otherwise polished.
I have used the somewhat bizarre mixture of backgrounds to give a better idea of the actual colour of the set.  Depending on the viewing device Forest Green sometimes looks almost black against a white background.

The Parker hard case is also in excellent condition and is the correct No. 258 English box for this set, as is the instruction leaflet.

At  seventy years old this is a remarkable top quality vintage set in original and 'correct' mint condition and a very scarce colour.
