Parker 51 colours have a significant impact on collectability and cocoa is among the most sought after. This 51 fountain pen/pencil set is totally original and in near mint condition.
The box is the No. 270, made from 1950 to 1953, this correlates well with the 1951 date on the pencil. Pencils were dated for some time after dating on pens ceased.
The 'Cocoa' finish is excellent, there are no marks or discolouration. The Lustralloy caps are ding free and the frosted finish has held up fairly well.
The set has been fully serviced and tested, the pen fills well and the 14Ct. Gold nib writes with a smooth fine to medium line. The pencil is a clutch mechanism, press the cap to expel and manually retract.
The chord in the box has snapped, probably a simple fix, but the box is in excellent, clean condition inside and out with a sound hinge and well aligned lid.
A Parker 51 cocoa boxed set in such great condition is quite a rarity and is clearly a prime collector's item, but perhaps such aa attractive, unusual, and practical set should be used and shown off!
