Parker 65 Flighter De Luxe. Boxed and Immaculate. c.1972.

Regular price £110.00

The Parker 65 Flighter De Luxe was introduced in 1970 and, by 1975, the pearl cap and end studs had been replaced with a steel version.  This pen has the original pearl coloured studs so can be dated between 1970 and 1974.

The pen came to me as new old stock and the condition of the pen and the original packaging certainly support this, although I have inked the pen, once, for testing purposes.

The large 14 Ct. Gold nib results from feedback to Parker from customers who were unhappy with the hooded nibs on the 51 and 61, Parker responded by producing the 65. The 65 nibs were advertised as being 'semi-flexible', but I think that is pushing it a bit.  This nib produces a smooth fine to medium line with exactly the right amount of feel to let you know you are using a fountain pen, and has a pleasing 'soft' feel.

The pen is a cartridge/converter filler, the converter and a cartridge are secured in the recess under the tray, so the pen is ready to write in either configuration. The box and instructions are original and in pristine condition.

Constructed in stainless steel with Gold filled trim, this is a very attractive and robust vintage pen, ideally suited for daily use.
