The Parker 75 'Laque Collection', made in France, began in 1979 and the Black version was introduced in 1987. This pen carries a date code for the last quarter of 1992, production of the 75 ceased in 1994 so this pen is the final version.
The pen is in outstanding condition throughout, the lacquered finish and gold filled trim are first class. The colour contrasts well with the Gold fill and gives the pen a very classic, distinguished appearance.
The 75 features an adjustable nib position, it can be rotated to give the best contact with the paper for a particular user. The gripping section and feed were upgraded in the late 1980s to this more rounded version.
The pen is a cartridge/converter filler, it is supplied with the correct screw type Parker ink converter and a new ink cartridge so it is ready to write in either configuration. The box is new, it is high quality and will serve well for tranportation, protection, and display.
From around 1990 some pens were offered with this upgraded 18Ct. Gold nib rather than the usual 14Ct. It produces a smooth, fine line, well suited to someone with small handwriting or for more detailed work. It has a pleasing 'softness' that helps make the pen a very comfortable writer. Parker described the 75 nibs as being 'semi flexible' but I think 'soft' describes them more accurately.
The Parker 75 is recognised as one of the best fountain pens ever made in terms of style and performance, they are now very collectable. The 18Ct. gold nibbed pens are particularly hard to come by.
