The Parker Duofold cap style was changed in 1968 to include a redesigned arrow clip and a cap ring covering the end of the cap, as in this example. It was discontinued in 1971, a relatively short production run.
Decimalisation of the currency took effect from February 1971 and pens produced for about a year before that would have been dual priced. This style of clip was added to the Duofold in 1968 and the chalk mark is only in 'old money' so the pen was probably made in 1968/69.
The pen is finished in Red with Gold filled trim. It is in immaculate condition throughout and has a full chalk mark. These are very delicate and wear off rapidly as the pen is handled so a complete chalk mark is a sign of very little, if any use. There is a faint red tinge to the ink sac suggesting that the pen has been inked, possibly only once.
The cap is clearly stamped 'Parker Made in England', along with the Parker 'halo'.
At 13.5 cm. capped and a very impressive 15.6 cm. when posted for use it is a long and elegant pen.
To protect the pen I have provided a brand new, high quality box which which will also serve well for display.
The Red finish has a brilliant deep shine, the original factory finish, and the Gold filling on the clip, cap stud, and cap ring is excellent. The cap ring has a bevelled edge and has a lip inside the cap, there is no danger of cracks to the cap lip, as was sometimes an issue with earlier Duofolds.
This pen is the last of the line and one of the more hard to find Duofolds, partly due to the short production run. The condition of the pen is such that it would grace a collection but it would make a first class vintage daily writer.
