The 'Ace of Spades' edition of the Parker Duofold International, featuring Palladium trim, was launched in 2005, this set carries date codes for that year.
This set, made in France, comprises a fountain pen and rollerball, and is part of a recently acquired collection of 'Ace' Duofolds. It is in immaculate condition. The two pens are identical in size and proportion but the rollerball can be distinguished from the fountain pen by its narrower cap bands. This facilitates picking up the 'right' pen.
The International is slightly smaller than the Centennial but, at 16.4 cm. in length, when posted, it is a very long and elegant pen of the highest quality.
The two tone motif on the 18Ct. gold nib is produced using a Palladium mask, leaving the 'spade' picked out in the yellow gold colour. This pen has a fine nib and the rollerball has a fine to medium, black refill.
The set is presented in the original box, along with a de luxe ink converter, two ink cartridges, and instruction leaflet.
The set is strikingly attractive, in a classical understated sense, and represents pen making at its very best.
