Parker Duofold Long Junior Flat Top. 1929.

Regular price £225.00

The Parker Long Junior flat top did not appear in the Parker catalogues but this pen can be accurately dated as it has a clear nib code for the second quarter of 1929. In that year the 'flat top' design was replaced by the sreamlined version, this is the last of the flat top Duofolds.

Made in Canada, the pen has been restored, tested, and is in excellent working condition.  It is constructed in 'Permanite', the tough plastic material introduced by Parker 1n 1925.  It has a first class surface and the chasing is still clear and well defined, the imprint is partially rubbed but is still clearly legible. The gold plating on the clip and twin cap bands has held up very well.

The pen is a button filler, it is easy to use and takes up a goood valume of ink with just one press on the button. The original 14 Ct. gold nib, supported by the correct Lucky Curve feed, writes with a very smooth line, perhaps a little on the fine side of medium.  It has the pleasing 'soft' feel often associated with vintage Duofold nibs.

At 16.4 cm., well over 6 inches, in length when posted, this is a very long, elegant pen. It has a comfortable, well balanced feel and is an 'easy' writer.

The box is brand new, it is of high quality and will serve well for transportation, protection, and display.

The Canadian branch of the company was set up to faclitate export of Parker pens to the British Empire, primarily the London Parker subsidiary, export directly from the U.S.A. faced restrictive duties.  Initially parts were imported to toronto from the U.S.A but, by the time this pen was produced just about  all manufacturing was done in Canada.

The flat top Long junior is one of the more rare Duofolds, a black chased version in this condition is very hard to find.  Although the pen is highly collectable, it would also make a very good, practical daily writer.
