The Parker Duofold Senior was added to the U.K. Duofold aerometric line in 1954, a year after the first aerometrics, the 'Standard' and the 'Demi'. It was discontinued in 1958, when it was replaced by the Maxima.
The pen is finished in classic black with a Gold filled, chevron engraved cap band and Gold filled clip. It is in superb condition and may well be unused, although I have inked it, once, for testing purposes. It has a factory finish with a clear imprint and the Gold filling is similarly pristine. The cap is a smooth screw fit, it tightens securely with one and a quarter turns and carries a black cap jewel.
The correct 14Ct. Gold No. 35 nib writes with a smooth, medium line and has a slightly 'soft' action. It writes with virtually no pressure and is a very comfortable and 'easy' writer.
The Duofold Senior is a very large pen, 16.3 cm. (well over 6 inches), in length when posted for use. It is well balanced and has a solid, high quality feel.
The Parker 'halo' box, introduced in the U.K. in 1957, is in good, clean condition, as is the instruction leaflet.
A pen with a great deal of 'presence', the Senior topped the line up of the Duofold aerometric models and is now very collectable and not at all easy to find in such fabulous condition.
