The Parker Duofold Senior was added to the U.K. Duofold aerometric line in 1954, a year after the first aerometrics, the 'Standard' and the 'Demi'. The Senior was the largest of the U.K. Duofolds at the time, production ceased in 1958.
The pen is finished in Blue with a Gold filled, chevron engraved cap band and clip. The pen is unusual in that it has a wide cap band rather than the narow one usually found on the Senior. I have seen a few similar pens before, not sure of the significance, perhaps it's a very early or very late pen. Either way, it's a most attractive upgrade.
It is in excellent condition with just light usage marks, it has a very good finish and the gold filling is pristine. The cap is a smooth screw fit, it tightens securely with one and a half turns and carries a colour coded cap jewel.
The pen has been fully serviced and tested. The aerometric filling system is easy to use and works well. The correct 14Ct. Gold No. 35 nib has a fine point, it delivers a fine line but has a suggestion of flex, enough to add character to the writing.
The box, almost certainly original, is in clean, sound condition.
The Duofold Senior is a very large pen, 16.3 cm. (well over 6 inches), in length when posted for use. It is well balanced and has a solid, high quality feel.
The Senior topped the line up of the Duofold aerometric models until the introduction of the Maxima. It is now very collectable and not at all easy to find in such good condition.
