The Parker Duofold Senior was added to the U.K. Duofold aerometric line in 1954, a year after the first aerometrics, the 'Standard' and the 'Demi'. It was discontinued in 1958, so it had a relatively short production run. This is a first year pen, it carries a 1954 date code.
The Senior was made in the four standard Doufold solid colours: Red, Black, Blue, and Green with the Green pen being, by far, the least common.
The pen is finished in Green with a Gold filled, chevron engraved cap band and Gold filled clip. It is in excellent condition with very good finish and the gold filling has held up very well. The cap is a smooth screw fit, it tightens securely with one and a quarter turns and carries a Green cap jewel.
The pen has been fully serviced and tested. The aerometric filling system is easy to use and works well. The correct 14Ct. Gold No. 35 nib, stamped with a '4' for 1954, is larger than the standard Duofold nib and writes with a super smooth, broad line and has a slightly 'soft' action. It writes with virtually no pressure and is a very comfortable and 'easy' writer.
The box is new, it is very high quality and suits the pen very well, I thought the pen deserved a good box for protection, presentation, and transport.
The Duofold Senior is a very large pen, 16.3 cm. (well over 6 inches), in length when posted for use. It is well balanced and has a solid, high quality feel.
The Senior topped the line up of the Duofold aerometric models until the introduction of the Maxima. It is now very collectable and not at all easy to find in such good condition, particularly in Green.
