The Parker Slimfold was added to the immensely successful Duofold range in 1962 and changed in 1968. Despite the name the Slimfold is a very comfortable 14.7 cm. in length when posted for use, only marginally shorter than the Parker 51. In use it is quite a long, and very elegant pen.
This pen is a fine example, made in England in the early 1960s. It has a showroom finish, a legible imprint, and excellent gold filling. Th Parker 'halo' box has very light age patches on the outside of the lid but it is in sound condition with a clean interior. The instruction leaflet, specifically mentioninng the Slimfold, is also in good order.
The correct 14 Ct. Gold No. 5. nib is unusual in that it has some flex. A little pressure on the downward stroke gives a slightly broader line allowing character to be added to the writing.
The Parker Slimfold is often underrated and seriously undervalued, new Gold nibbed pens, start at well over £100. This example is a very serviceable, attractive, and reliable Gold nibbed pen with an excellent pedigree, it is a truly vintage fountain pen.
