The Parker Slimfold was added to the immensely successful Duofold range in 1962 and changed in 1968. Despite the name the Slimfold is a very comfortable 14.7 cm. in length when posted for use, only marginally shorter than the Parker 51. In use it is quite a long, thin, and very elegant pen.
This set, comprising a fountain pen and mechanical pencil is an outstanding example, made in England around the early sixties. The box has seen better days but it has done its job in protecting the set over the last sixty years or so.
Finished in red, the set is in excellent condition. It has a deep shine and first class gold filling to the clips and cap bands. The ink sac on the pen is unstained, usually asign of careful use. The pencil is pristine and works well, the rotary mechanism is activated by twisting the cap. The eraser apears unused, as it has been in situ for decades and is tight I have not attempted to remove it, leads are readily available and are fitted through the cone.
The aerometric filling system is simple, easy to use, and efficient. The Parker 14Ct. Gold No.5 nib writes with a smooth, fine line, well suited to someone with small handwriting or for more detailed work.
The Parker Slimfold is often underrated and seriously undervalued, new Gold nibbed pens start are now extremely exppensive. This is a very serviceable, attractive, and reliable Gold nibbed pen and pencil set with an excellent pedigree, a worthy alternative.
