The first generation Parker Vacumatics, such as this pen, were twin jewelled 'lockdown' fillers with a 'feather' clip. Made in Canada, this example is a 'high line' model with striped end jewels and three cap bands carries a date code for the first quarter of 1937.
At 12 cm. capped and 14.5 cm. posted, it is one of the smaller Vacumatics. The model name was actually the 'Slender', but at this size it is often referred to as a 'Junior Slender'.
Fully serviced and tested, tha pen is in excellent condition throughout. It is a laminated construction in 'Emerald Pearl', the barrel has good transparency although the clear sections have taken an amber tinge with age.
The surface is outstanding, the barrel imprint is clear, and the gold filling to the cap bands and clip has held up very well and the original Vacumatic 'arrow' nib writes well, delivering a smooth, fine line.
The first generation Vacumatics are becoming very hard to find and, in this condition, are highly collectable.
