The Parker Vacumatic Shadow Wave pattern consists of irregular vertical streaks, in this case golden brown, against a black background, the section and blind cap was plain black.
This Canadian made pen has been restored, tested, and is in excellent working coindition. the photograph shows the pen before reassembly, the nib was not removed from the section as there was no reason to disturb it after 86 years in place.
Constructed in heavy celluloid, it has a good. deep shine and a very clear imprint with a date code for the second quarter of 1940. The gold filling to the cap bands, split arrow clip, and end tassies is also first classs.
At 13 cm. capped and 14.7 cm. posted this is one of the larger Vacumatics, it has a solid, 'chunky' feel and is very comfortable in the hand. The correct and original 14 Ct Gold nib delivers a fine to medium line with a small but very effective amount of flex, someone with a decent 'hand' would enjoy some impressive results.
This golden brown pearl shadow wave Parker Vacumatic has all the attributes of a highly collectable pen: age, quality, rarity, and condition. It would also make a very good, practical daily writer.
