The Parker VS, 'Vacumatic Successor' was introduced in late 1946 and the aluminium filler version, this pen, was discontinued in 1948. The pen has a date code for the first quarter of 1947.
The pen is finished in Royal Blue with a 'lustralloy' cap, chromed clip, and pearl grey cap stud. It has been serviced, tested, and is in excellent working condition.
The nib, 14Ct. Gold, is simply stamped 'Parker U.S.A.' along with the 1947 date code. The feed is transparent 'Lucite', the material used for Parker 51 barrels, it was replaced with a black feed around the time this pen was made.
The AF, aluminium filler, works well with a single press of the button. The AF system was used for some U.K. made Duofold pens from 1948 to 1953.
The plain, exposed nib was only used for the VS, it is an excellent writer, producing a very smooth and consistent fine line. It would particularly suit someone with small handwriting.
The VS was only made for a short period of time and did not sell particularly well so there are very few survivors. It is a rare, and highly collectable pen.
