Sears and Roebuck Ring Top.

Regular price £70.00

Sears and Roebuck, founded in 1886, were the leading U.S.A. retailer until 1989 when they were surpassed by Wallmart in 1989, and filed for bancruptcy in 2018.  The, now renamed, Sears Tower still dominates the Chicago skyline.

In the 1920s and 1930s the company offered a range of pens under the name 'Good Service',this pen carries a clear imprint with the 'SR' logo, although the first three letters of 'Good Service' are no longer legible.

The pen, made by the 'National Pen Products Co.' of Chicago in the late 1920/ early 1930s, is constructed in red mottled celluloid with four gold filled cap rings and a 14 Ct. Gold 'Gem' nib.

A lever filler, the pen has an excellent surface with a deep shine. The cap is a smooth screw fit, tightening securely with two turns. The cap posts well, giving a length of 14 cm.

The pen has been serviced and tested, the lever filling system works well, and the nib has a decent amount of flex to add character to the writing.
