The Sheaffer Imperial Brushed Chrome is an all metal pen, although the barrel is overlayed onto a plastic core which allows the cap to fit flush with the barrel when capped. This is a very neat arrangement giving a smooth, clean line to the pen.
At 13.2 cm. capped, 14.6 cm. posted and a barrel diameter of 1.2 cm. it is a good sized pen with a chunky, solid feel. The brushed steel finish is quite tactile and has the advantage of not showing fingerprints. The inner sprung, chrome plated clip carries the Sheaffer 'White Dot' sign of quality.
The steel inlaid 'diamond' nib, stamped 'Sheaffer' has the characteristic slightly upturned point, designed to give a larger contact area with the paper, aiding ink delivery and smoothness.
The pen is a cartridge/converter filler, cartridges and ink converters are readily available. It writes with a super smooth, medium line and is a pleasure to use. As with most Sheaffer nibs, it is a little on the fine side of medium.
In excellent condition throughout, this Sheaffer Imperial Brushed Chrome is a very robust and practical pen, it would make a first class every day writer.
