The Sheaffer Targa was made in a bewildering range of finishes, this matt black, chrome trim version was made between 1980 and 1988.
In 'as new' condition, it could well have been unused before I inked it for testing purposes, the pen is a full sized Targa, as opposed to the slim version. It is fitted with the original ink converter and it also takes standard Sheaffer ink cartridges. A new cartridge is included so the pen is ready to write in either configuration.
Sheaffer made the 'inlaid diamond' nib with a slightly upturned point to give a better contact area and improve writing. It certainly worked well in this case, the pen delivers a beautifully smooth medium line a very comfortable and easy writer.
The robust, high quality build, excellent writing characteristics, and versatility of the filling system make the Targa a great candidate as a vintage, every day fountain pen.
