Mabie Todd added a new range of 'cigar shaped' pens in the late 1940s as production was getting back to normal after wartime restrictions. Almost all were made in celluloid but the 3261 saw the resurrection of hard rubber, perhaps to use up old stock material.
Fully serviced and tested, the pen is in excellent working condition. It has a good surface with a clear barrel imprint and the gold filling has held up exceptionally well.
The pen has a new ink sac and the filling system works well, taking up a good volume of ink. The correct Swan no. 2. 14 Ct. gold nib writes with a medium line and has good flex, it's a pity that my scrawl does it no justice.
At 15.8cm. in length when posted, and a proportionate girth, the 3261 is a handsome, well balanced pen with a solid feel. It was among the last of the high quality pens before the company began to decline in the late 1950s.
