The Combridge Pen by Conway Stewart. Mottled Hard Rubber

Regular price £135.00

In the 1920-30s Conway Stewart devoted some of its production to 'own brand' pens.  These were made to order for companies who wished to provide their customers with a high quality product bearing their own name.  This pen was made for the Combridge, Birmingham company, the logo shows an intertwined 'C and B', in the same style as the 'C and S' on Conway Stewart imprinted pens.

The pen is constructed in mottled hard rubber, a category that includes 'woodgrain' and 'ripple' designs.  It is in remarkable condition throughout, it has an excellent surface with a legible imprint and the gold filling has held up very well.  A very striking and unusual feature is that the cap stud and feed are made from the same mottled rubber as the pen.

The nib is original, clearly imprinted Combridge Birmingham 14Ct. Gold.  It writes with a medium line and has a small, but effective, amount of flex offering good line variation.

An unusual and very attractive high quality pen, the Combridge is clearly collectable but would also serve as a practical and eye-catching daily writer.
