The Jewel Pen No.56.

Regular price

Although the Jewel Pen Company is one of Britain's lesser known manufacturers it is also one of the oldest.  It was founded in 1884 as agents for American made pens.  By the early 1900s the company was producing its own pens.

The Jewel 56 was only offered between 1943 and 1945, one of only three models the company was able to produce due to wartime restrictions and difficulties with materials and workforce.

The pen has been fully serviced and tested, there is a crack in the threads which is hard to see and has no effect on the capping or working of the pen but should be mentioned and is reflecred in the price.  The nib is a Jewel own brand 'Super' 14Ct. Gold nib, clearly stamped. It writes  with just a suggestion of flex giving enough line variation to add character to the writing.  At a most impressive 16.3 cm. when posted the Jewel is a long, elegant, classic 1940s English lever filler.

The Jewel 56 is a rare pen, It would clearly fit well in a vintage English pen collection.
