This vintage Sheaffer Pencil can be dated to before 1964 as the clip is stamped 'Sheaffer'S', the last 'S' was dropped in that year and subsequent pens and pencils were stamped 'Sheaffer'.
The pencil is finished in red with a polished chrome cap, clip, and nozzle. The gripping section is engraved with fine concentric lines and the barrel is stamped 'Made in Australia'. The Australian branch of Sheaffer had been in operation since 1951.
The pencil is genuine new old stock, it has never been privately owned and shows no signs of use.
It has a rotary action, the cap is turned to extend and retract the lead. The cap and eraser can be removed to gain access to spare leads which are stored in the barrel. A replacement lead can easily be fitted through the nozzle.
At least sixty years old, this is a true vintage pencil but it would still perform well as an every day writer.
