The Waterman Gentleman first appeared in the catalogues in the mid 1980s. It was a very high ranking pen in the Waterman hierarchy. It is a luxury item, the high quality look and feel is unmistakeable.
The pen is in excellent condition throughout, it has a deep multilayered lacquer finish and 22Ct. gold plated trim. a new refill has been fitted as the original had dried with age.
At 14.2 cm. capped and 16.1 cm. posted the Gentleman is an extremely long and elegant pen with a goood deal oof presence. With typical attention to detail the cap is engineered in such a way that the metal rim does not come into contact with the barrel when posted, the end of the barrel 'clicks' into a 'soft' clutch in the cap. The cap band, and the clip bear a Waterman hallmark.
The Waterman presentaion box has lost the chord but is in sound, clean condition.
The Waterman Gentleman is not a common pen. Of the four lacquered colours, green is, by far, the most difficult to find.
