Waterman W5 in Pearl Blue Striated

Regular price

The Waterman W5 was the flagship pen of the Waterman range in the early 1950s.  Introducing a very expensive fountain pen at a time when the industry was under siege from the ballpoint represented a very bold move by Waterman.

Finished in Pearl Blue with irregular vertical stripes, and Gold filled trim with a triple cap band and art deco clip this is a hugely attractive pen of impressive proportions.

The pen has been fully serviced, tested and is in excellent working condition.  The box lever filling system works well and the large 14 Ct. Gold W5 nib writes with a smooth, medium line with a small, but effective, amount of flex.

The box lever system, reserved for the high end pens, includes a metal frame to house the filler lever.  This prevents strain on the plastic barrel and provides a solid anchorage for the lever.

At around seventy years old this W5 would make an eye catching and practical vintage daily writer.
