Swan leverless filling system.

Posted by collectablepens . on

I recently restored two swan leverless pens, one an early Gold filled pen and the other a 1930s 0160.  The sac replacement is really straightforward, fully clean out old sac and fit new one with a good dusting of chalk.    The action of the system is usually described as 'twisting the sac' but I don't think that is actually what happens.  When the button is turned the bar moves in such a way that the edge of the bar presses along the length of the centre of the sac pushing air out.  When the button is tightened the bar  returns to...

Parker 51 Magnetix desk set.

Posted by Kevin Randle on

Vintage Parker 51 desk sets are very difficult to find, one in brand new condition is a rarity.  This set is unused and in its original packing.  The Parker 51 pen is uninked and perfect. The 'Magnetix' base incorporates a strong magnet which allows the pen to be located smoothly to the perfect angle.  It's hard to imagine a better gift for a person who enjoys using a vintage pen on a regular basis.

Sheaffer Prelude Rainbow.

Posted by Kevin Randle on

The Sheaffer Prelude Rainbow, although not a vintage pen is certain to be a much sought after collectors item.  This is a really, really glamorous pen, Sheaffer did not make a great number of Prelude Rainbows and they are becoming very hard to find.  This one is brand new, never inked and only handled, carefully, for the photographs.  Not a lot to say, just look at it!!!

Interesting little pen

Posted by Kevin Randle on

I bought this from a collector, it just looked like an interesting old pen. It looks like a 1930 ish lever filler.     But it appears as if it might be an eye dropper conversion.  It has a see through window, a screw on blind cap at the end of the barrel but it also has a press bar ink filler.  When you look through the ink window all you see is the aluminium sleeve, not the ink level.  I can see no other reason why it has an ink window and a blind cap.  The pen fills well and...
