Parker 100 update. How does it write?
Posted by collectablepens . on
I recently published two Parker 100 Fountain pen posts. I have now tested each of them thoroughly and can report the results. One pen is a Smoked Bronze GT pen and the other a Diamond Blue version: Much has been written about the tendency for the Parker 100 to be a little erratic in performance but I found nothing untoward in either pen, quite the opposite. Each pen was tested using an ink cartridge and an ink converter, the only difference was that, using the cartridge with a dry pen a little time was needed on the first use to allow...
A Parker 100 in Diamond Blue GT
Posted by collectablepens . on
The Parker 100 is much more than a Parker 51 on steroids! Clearly Parker intended to hark back a few decades to the 51 by using the same overall shape and hooded nib but the similarity more or less ends there. With it's all metal construction, deep lacquered finish and larger size the 100 is a much heavier and more substantial pen than the 51. Whether or not this is a good thing is a personal choice but few can doubt that the addition of an 18Ct. gold nib and more opulent use of materials adds something to to the...
Sheer class, the Waterman L'etalon Sterling Silver Basketweave
Posted by collectablepens . on
The Waterman L'Etalon Sterling Silver pen in a 'basketweave' finish ranks among the 'grail' pens for many collectors for obvious reasons. It is a fabulous writer, well balanced, great feel, and solidly engineered, as are quite a few top quality fountain pens. But what sets it apart? Just look at it!! A 23 Ct. Gold plated Waterman L'Etalon is available here. The Silver Basketweave Waterman L'etalon is available here.
Another huge pen, the Sheaffer Legacy Palladium.

The Sheaffer Legacy Palladium set arrived today. It is a very large and impressive pen that clearly has something of the Imperial about it but on a much grander, super luxury scale. This is a pen that makes a statement, not sure yet what the statement is but I'll use it for a few days and post a full report.
The Parker 100, a very large, handsome pen.

I've just received a Parker 100 set in Smoked Bronze and was immediately 'taken' by the impressive dimensions. It really is a large and very substantial pen with a very solid, chunky feel. It was clearly inspired by the Parker 51 but on a much larger scale. It put me in mind of a new 'Mini' car compared to the original. I haven't written with the pen yet, I'll use it for a few days and post a report on performance. Parker 100 Review This Parker 100 for sale here
