This pen is now sold but we have another Blackbird here
This Mabie Todd Blackbird pen is quite unusual in that it has a smooth hard rubber construction and a Gold filled clip with the name imprinted along its length. I think it was probably made in the early 1930s.
The pen has been restored and tested. The filling system works well and the original 14 Ct Gold Blackbird nib writes with a medium line with a good amount of flex.
Mabie Todd clearly wanted to leave no doubt as to the identity of the pen, the word 'Blackbird' is imperinted on the feed, nib, section, barrel, cap, and clip.
The pen is in very good condition, a little swelling around the lever, but it has a very good finish, clear imprints and the gold filling on the clip has held up very well.
When posted, the Blackbird is an impressive 15.3cm. in length, and has a solid, well balanced feel. It is a good example of a 1930s English lever filler.
